The historical values embodied in Fort Charlotte and at the botanic garden are rich and diverse, giving it the capacity to be the most significant historic and cultural attraction in The Bahamas. Its physical and historic relationship to Old Nassau offers a major addition to the mix of attractions that complement the visitor experience. The ensemble includes the fort with its military earthworks, adjacent botanic garden and the creation of a traditional Bahamian market.

Under the auspices of the Lady Darling
Heritage Foundation, this project's
mandate was to restore Fort Charlotte,
re-establish the botanic gardens and create
a Bahamian market as a heritage tourism
attraction. Commonwealth in association
with ARA Group and Design +
Communications Inc. was retained to
prepare a feasibility study including
research, planning and feasibility
advice to determine the viability
of the project.
